Prayers for my Cousins

It's been a week full of ups and downs.  8 days ago we welcomed a new 2nd cousin into our family.  He is the first baby for our cousin Hannah and her husband Dan.  Baby Riley was born 11 days early but weighed a good 7 lbs.  During Hannah's pregnancy there had been concern that there might have been a problem with R's liver.  However upon delivery everything checked out fine and he went home happy and healthy.

3 days later though, he stopped eating, and started sleeping more and more.  To the point where they could not wake him for his feedings.  Hannah & Dan were very concerned and rushed him to the emergency room.  Upon arrival at the ER Riley's temperature dropped drastically.  He was in serious distress.  The immediately started working on him and arranged to have him moved to the Children's Hospital ICU.

Where he is now.  He is in critical condition.  They now believe it looks as though his kidneys are failing.  They are also concerned that there might have been a prolonged delay of blood to the brain, but as of yesterday he was responding to stimuli.  They are trying to get him in for an MRI on his brain and they are really working to figure out why and what is making him so sick.

Our hearts are heavy right now for Hannah & Dan.  We have no way to be there for them as they are in England.  We wish we could be there to hold their hands and pray with them.  Our family has been doing a daily prayer together via e-mails.  Thank God that we are such a close family even with living on different continents we are always in each other thoughts and hearts.

So if you wouldn't mind...  Please say a prayer for baby Riley.

"Heavenly father, we lift up to you little Riley and his medical condition. Please lay your hand on him for healing; and please give to the doctors, nurses and specialists wisdom, skill, inspiration and insight in caring for him, diagnosing his condition and bringing him back to full health. Please watch over Hannah and Dan, Joan and Pete and all the family at this difficult and emotional time; and please give them every assurance of your love, your presence and your fatherly care for them. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

Much Love!
