I am so irritated! One of my favorite shows is losing me this season. Private Practice. I'm so ticked off. I thought when they introduced the fact that Addison had high FSH, coupled with the fact that Naomi is an RE, it might have opened the door to discussion of DE or Donor Embryo. But NOOOOO! Instead they've done a really horrible episode where they were going to harvest a sick newborns eggs for her mother to use, and now apparently Addison is miraculously pregnant with Sam's baby. Seriously?!?!
Please give more of the masses a false sense of what being infertile means. It doesn't mean drink lots of wine, have tons of tawdry affairs and what do you know you will end up pregnant. That is so not how it happens. Even the miracle pregnancies that I know of that have happened lately have happened to women who were doing, acupuncture, eating healthy, taking vitamins, recently been on fertility drugs of sort (estrogen, progesterone, even stims the month prior), or had recently had baby(s), thus maybe resetting their bodies. Anyway, it just ticks me off because this show had/has a great opportunity to really bring DE and Donor Embryo, heck infertility, into the fold and educate it's viewers, and instead it's continuing with it's Soap Opera dramatics.
Okay enough about this... Sorry I've been MIA for the last week, I've really been a boring blogger. I'm planning on doing my 26 week survey and picture on Sunday so stay tuned!

UPDATE!
At the end of the show they revealed that no Addison is not pregnant. However this show is still ticking me off and I think I'm going to have to end my love affair with it as I did Desperate Housewives. But at least they didn't play into the 'relax, forget about it, and it will happen' theory that fertiles love to push!

I don't watch the show but seriously...harvest of eggs from a baby?! Is that even possible?? Don't you have to have a period first? I think the story line is BS!! Gah! I'm annoyed and I don't even watch the show. Can't WAIT until Sunday's survey and photo!!
Okay, I had to go googling to see what the heck you were talking about because I watch PP each week and there was nothing on last week's show to suggest Addison was pregnant. I'm guessing you saw a promo for the upcoming show? I wouldn't accept that they're saying she's pregnant naturally (if in fact she's pregnant at all). They've deliberately done that to grab the viewer to get them to watch. As you know they made if very clear that no matter what Addison could not have a baby of her own. I'll be tuning in to see how they handle it because Shonda Rhimes is usually right up there with the research and correctness of her stories.
As for the other storyline with the baby. I agree, that's a bit far fetched. However, I did some research and apparently as early as 2003 studies were being done to harvest ovarian tissue that was kept alive in a lab to mature. I'm not saying I agree with any of this, or the storyline, but nothing is impossible in this age of advanced science. I do think Private Practice was pushing the envelope with that storyline. I think it generated a lot of chatter online, and may have turned a number of viewers off the show.
